Our Last Summer
Did you know that before I opened the google doc to start writing Our Last Summer, I had already attempted (and failed) to write three other books? The first book I attempted to write was one based on the Shatter Me series. That series was my favourite series for so long and I felt so inspired. If I am being honest, that series is still one of my favourites and Juliette still inspires me to this day. The second book I tried to write was a villain origin story. At the time, I was very much into my morally grey era of reading and wanted to create a book based on my favourite combination of their characteristics. With the gift of hindsight, this book failed because all I had was a character and no plot. The third book I tried to write was a grumpy sunshine romance set in Longyearbyen, the northernmost settlement in the world. It was perfect because I started writing it in winter and I am such a mood reader and writer that I have to write books set in the season I am in (this will come into play even more later). In hindsight, this book failed because I had no character development and too much plot.
If you want to learn how I went from such an amateur writer to a nearly published one, please return here in March! And I promise, there was no magic involved only a lot of hardwork :)
